Tra Que vegetable village recognized as best tourist village in 2024

The Tra Que Vegetable Village in Hoi An City, the central coastal province of Quang Nam, has just been recognized by the United Nations Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) as the Best Tourist Village in 2024, said Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hong, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The “Best Tourist Village” award was launched to enhance the role of tourism in protecting rural villages. Villages selected to receive the award must have outstanding natural and cultural resources, and have innovative actions and commitments to develop tourism in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

After evaluating more than 260 applications from 60 countries, UN Tourism recognized the rich and outstanding cultural and natural resources of Tra Que Vegetable Village and the village's commitments and actions in compliance with the three main pillars of sustainable tourism development.
At the recommendation of the Award Jury, UN Tourism officially recognized Tra Que Vegetable Village as one of the Best Tourist Villages in 2024.
So far, UN Tourism has granted awards to 130 villages worldwide. Of which, three villages in Vietnam were recognized in 2022, 2023, 2024, including: Thai Hai Village (Thai Nguyen), Tan Hoa Village (Quang Binh) and Tra Que Vegetable Village (Quang Nam).
Tra Que Vegetable Village is located in Cam Ha Commune, 3 kilometers from the center of Hoi An City. The village is not only a famous supplier of green vegetables but also one of the attractive ecotourism destinations for domestic and foreign tourists.
Currently, Tra Que has 202 households participating in vegetable growing activities with 326 direct workers, on an area of 18 hectares of cultivated land, bringing a stable source of income. In April 2022, the vegetable growing profession in Tra Que was recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and included in the list of National Intangible Cultural Heritage./.
