UN Tourism awards Best Tourist Village certificate to Tra Que Vegetable

At the event, UN Tourism Executive Director Zoritsa Urosevic presented the certificate of “Best Tourist Village of 2024” to Mr. Nguyen Van Son, Chairman of the Hoi An City People’s Committee, under the witness of Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam Le Thanh Long, leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, delegates, domestic and international media agencies.

Tra Que Vegetable Village was recognized as “Best Tourist Village in 2024” based on nine criteria: Cultural and natural resources; Promoting and preserving cultural resources; Economic sustainability; Social sustainability; Environmental sustainability; Tourism development and value chain integration; Tourism management and priorities; Infrastructure and connectivity; and Health, security, safety.

The first UN Tourism Conference on Tourism for Rural Development drew the participation of more than 300 delegates from 50 countries around the world.

Over the past years, tourism has bolstered socio-economic development and economic restructuring in Vietnam’s rural areas while preserving ecological landscapes and cultural heritage and narrowing income disparities between rural and urban regions.

To date, UN Tourism has built a Best Tourism Village Network of 354 members; of which, Vietnam has three villages recognized as Best Tourism Villages by UN Tourism, including Thai Hai Village (Thai Nguyen province, 2022), Tan Hoa Village (Quang Binh province, 2023) and Tra Que Vegetable Village (Quang Nam province, 2024)./.
