Vietnam Airlines launches Hanoi – Phnom Penh direct flight route

National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines on October 27 launched a direct flight route connecting Hanoi with Phnom Penh, Cambodia at Phnom Penh International Airport.

The route will have four flights per week, operating on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
The new route brings Vietnam Airlines’ total number of routes between Vietnam and Cambodia to five, including four direct between Vietnam and Cambodia: Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City - Phnom Penh, and Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City - Siem Reap; and one trans-Indochina route. The total number of flights between the two countries will also increase to 86 flights per week.
Vietnam Airlines is now the only Vietnamese carrier operating a direct route between Hanoi and Phnom Penh. With this route, passengers will have their travel time reduced to just about two hours.
Speaking at the launch, Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyen Huy Tang said that the new route is an important milestone in the friendship and neighborly cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia, and bringing the people of the two countries closer together.
According to statistics, Vietnam Airlines has transported nearly 8.2 million passengers and 28,400 tons of cargo on more than 81,000 flights between Vietnam and Cambodia over the past three decades./.
