A delegation from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism met and worked with the Los Angeles city government (USA) on September 25 to connect cinema and tourism development.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome of Los Angeles City, and congratulated Los Angeles on being the host of the 2028 Olympics.
The Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism emphasized that the strategic partnership between Vietnam and the United States, established in 2023, has created an important foundation for cooperative development in many fields, including cinema and tourism.
He affirmed that there is much room for cinema and tourism development between the two countries, while hoping that the Los Angeles city government will pay attention to strengthening cooperation with Vietnam and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in the fields of culture and tourism.
Vietnam has proposed establishing direct flights between its major cities and Los Angeles and plans to invite Hollywood studios to explore potential filming locations and tourism services, he added.
At the same time, the ministry’s leader also asked Los Angeles to support Vietnam in participating in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network. Efforts will focus on helping HCM City prepare its application to join the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in cinema, aiming for submission in 2025.
The representative of the Los Angeles city government agreed with the need to promote cooperation in the fields of culture, sports and tourism. Especially in the field of cinema, Mr. Daniel Rodman, Head of the International Events Department (Los Angeles), said that the ministry’s offers an opportunity for the two sides to promote cooperation and consider Los Angeles a partner.
“Los Angeles is also planning to open direct flights to Vietnamese cities,” he said. “Hosting the 2028 Olympics is an opportunity for the city to greet international tourists from around the world and this is also an opportunity to expand cooperation with Vietnamese cities./.”
