The ministry made the statement at its quarterly press conference held on October 3.

Specifically, Vietnam welcomed 1.433 million visitors in August 2024, 17% higher than 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic. Each previous month, the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT) also made a very careful comparison. In addition, the last months of the year are the peak period for international visitors of Vietnam.

“Based on the above factors, the goal of welcoming 18 million international visitors in 2024 is achievable,” said Mr. Nguyen Le Phuc, Deputy Head of VNAT.

India, one of the recently emerging markets with large groups of visitors to Vietnam, has become one of the 10 largest markets sending tourists to the country in the nine months. Notably, the India elite have chosen resorts in Vietnam to organize many luxurious weddings.

Aiming to take advantage of the large market, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has organized promotional activities with the Indian market through international tourism fairs and tourism forums.

A number of direct flights to India have been expanded, while the tourism industry has carefully studied the behavior, preferences and consumption habits of Indian tourists to develop specific and suitable high-end tourism products. In October 2024, a large-scale tourism promotion forum in India is expected to be held with the participation of many local tourism businesses./.
