International visitor arrivals to Vietnam reached more than three million in the first two months of 2024, a year-on-year rise of 68.7%, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).
International visitor arrivals to Vietnam enjoyed growth in the first 2 months of the year

Of the total of over three million international visitor arrivals to Vietnam, visitors arriving by air accounted for 84.2%, 1.6 times higher than the same period last year while those by road and sea accounted for 12.8 and 3%, respectively.

Revenue from accommodation and food services increased by 14%. Revenue from tourism was estimated at 9,000 billion VND, up 35.8% over the same period last year, including some localities with good growth such as Ha Nam up 88%; Da Nang up 86.3%; Hanoi up 49.8% and Ho Chi Minh City up 23%.

According to experts, the gowth is from the effect of favorable visa policies, tourism stimulus programs, as well as the efforts of the government and people in carrying out promotion programs over the past time.

Specifically, during the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday, the country’s tourism industry was estimated to receive and serve 10.5 million domestic visitors, including about 3.5 million visitors staying overnight.

The average room occupancy reached an estimated 45%-50% at the system of tourist accommodation establishments. Notably, high-end tourist accommodation establishments from 4-5 stars in some key tourist localities achieved higher occupancy rates, especially on the 3rd and 4th days of the Tet holiday. This is considered an encouraging signal for the tourism industry in 2024./.
