Focusing on developing economic regions, economic zones and maritime economy

This is one of the tasks given by the Government in action program implementing the National Assembly’s Resolution on socio-economic development plans for the 2016-2020 period.

Accordingly, in the near future, the Government will promptly check, add, adjust and complete regional development schemes; improve the quality of establishing and managing schemes, especially socio-economic development scheme, inter-provincial region, key economic region, economic zone, processing zone, socio-economic infrastructure, urban schemes and natural resources using schemes.

Building policies, programs and plans for mobilization and effective use of investment capital of economic components in order to promote the potential and advantages of each region and locality, and to effectively cope with natural calamity and climate change.

Encouraging enterprises to focus on linking and shaping large-scale special economic regions with groups of highly-competitive products. Researching the building of mechanisms for inter-provincial, regional coordination and cooperation among localities in mobilizing human and financial resources to invest in building and exploiting technical infrastructure projects at regional and inter-regional levels.

Continuing to perfect legal mechanisms and policies to promote the efficiency of industrial zones, economic zones and border gate economic zones. Developing economic corridors and belts and significant growth poles for the country and association in the region intensifying connections among economic zones.

Strengthening inter-regional and inter-provincial cooperation, connection and comprehensiveness in policies and directions to manage the implementation of schemes and plans on investment promotion and consumption market expansion; exploiting, using and protecting water resources and environment sustainably.

Furthermore, focusing on developing key economic regions, motive-power region, economic zones and industrial zones, as well as creating conditions for more rapid development for difficult areas, especially mountainous areas, frontier, islands, the Northwestern area, Central Highlands, Southwestern region and West of central provinces.

The Government will also enforce mechanisms and policies to strongly and effectively promote maritime economic sectors and improve the lives of people around sea and islands; encourage investment in developing oil and gas exploitation and processing, seaport, ship building and repairing, maritime transport; tap and process seafood, fishing logistics services and sea and islands tourism.

Building coastal economic zones and fishing logistics establishment; assisting fisherpersons to tap offshore and fish for long time; and offering opportunities and encouraging people to permanently settle on islands./.
