Cashew export sees growth in both volume and value

(CPV) – Cashew export from the start of the year maintained growth in both volume and value, reported the Ministry of Agricultural and Rural Development.

Accordingly, cashew export volume in October reached an estimated 33,000 tons, valued at USD285 million; bringing the figures for the ten months of the year to 291,000 tons and USD2.33 billion, up 5.8% in volume and 16.6% in value over a year earlier.

Average export cashew nut price in the first nine months of the year posted USD7,928 per ton, a year-on-year rise of 9.1%. The US, Netherlands and China were still the three biggest importers of Vietnamese cashew, with market shares of 33.9%, 13.8% and 13.3%, respectively.

Other markets with sharp rise in cashew export value were Israel (50%), Germany (37.2%), England (24%), the Netherlands (23.6%), China (21.2%) and Italy (14.3%).

Meanwhile, import cashew volume in October was estimated at 117,000 tons, worth USD192 million, bringing the figures for the ten months to 913,000 tons, valued at USD1.4 billion, up 17.1% in volume and 39.1% in value over a year earlier./.
