APEC forum to enhance economic power of women

The APEC Women and the Economy Forum 2017 is set to take place in Hue city from September 26th to 29th.

This information was announced at a press conference held by Ministry of Labor, War-Invalids and Social Affairs on September 20th.

According to Deputy Minister of Labor, War-Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Hong Lan, through the economic development trend and the common concern of the APEC economy, the main theme of the forum is “Enhancing the Integration and Power of Women in a Changing World.”

The forum will highlight three main events, namely the meeting on policy partnership on women and the economy on September 26th and 27th, the public-private dialogue on women and the economy on September 28th, and the high-level policy dialogue on women and the economy on September 29th.

In addition, it will have eight sideline activities including conferences, specialized workshops, forums and cultural events.

More than 500 delegates representing both the public and private sectors, and businesses from the 21 APEC economies, are expected to take part in the forum and related events.

This is also an opportunity for the Governments of APEC economies to listen to the concerns and aspirations of the private sector and discuss solutions to improve the economic empowerment of women.

Outcomes of the forum are expected to contribute to strengthening the connectivity among APEC businesswomen and the close relationship between the public and private sectors; creating opportunities for enterprises and businesswomen to join regional value and supply chains while further promoting the integration and the economic power of women in APEC./.
