Government leader urges development of Ngoc Linh ginseng industry

The ginseng is an endemic and valuable product of Ngoc Linh mountain area of Kon Tum and Quang Nam which is considered to have great potential to develop the industry, serving both domestic demand and export.

The PM urged the close association and concentration on gradually and effectively developing the industry in combination with preserving Ngoc Linh ginseng, especially the maintenance of pure gene source of the ginseng.

He required the focus on increasing the value of Ngoc Linh ginseng with appropriate steps and routes. In the short term, the two localities should promote the preeminent values of Ngoc Linh ginseng compared to other kinds of ginseng. In the long term, it is necessary to have strategy to popularize and diversify products in order to gradually bring Ngoc Linh ginseng to the international market.

In addition, the government leader asked to continue attracting investment from both domestic and foreign companies with potential, technology and experience in planting and processing Ngoc Linh ginseng; especially nuclear companies which pioneer to bring the trademark to the international market.

He encouraged to take advantages and opportunities of industrial revolution 4.0 in planting and processing Ngoc Linh ginseng as a breakthrough for the development of the pharmaceutical and functional food sector of Vietnam./.
