According to Mr. Pham Ngoc Sau, Director of the Van Don Airport, the resumption is expected to meet travel demand of the local people as the pandemic in Vietnam is gradually curbed and social distancing measures are eased.
Specifically, the Van Don-Ho Chi Minh City route will be operated with four weekly flights on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays by national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines from May 16th; Vietjet will resume the same route from May 4th; and Bamboo Airways plans to operate one daily flight from June 1st.
From May 16th, the route linking Van Don and Da Nang will be reopened, with three flights per week by Vietnam Airlines on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
In addition, the airport is planning to launch another domestic route linking Van Don with Phu Quoc or Nha Trang in the last quarter of this year.
More importantly, Van Don Airport still applies measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Passengers have to wear face masks and have their body temperatures checked, as well as washing hands with dry sanitizers at the airport./.
