The information was announced by the Plant Protection Department under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
According to the information from Japan, just reported in early afternoon, Vietnamese lychee is "out of stock" in Japan, said a representative of the Plant Protection Department.
The entire first batch of lychee was sold out in just one day. Japanese consumers have very good reviews of the product. Many Japanese consumers really want to continue buying Vietnamese lychee, the representative added.
Mr. Duong Thanh Tung, Director of the Bac Giang provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said the fresh lychee is predicted to sell well in Japan. On June 21st afternoon, Bac Giang province exported another 3 tons of fresh lychee to Japan by air. On June 20th, an additional 6 tons of fresh lychee were shipped by sea to Japan. Thus, there will be nearly 10 tons of fresh lychee sold in the Japanese market in next week.
Bac Giang's main lychee season is now in full harvest, and lychee harvested is sold for export at good prices.
“The price of lychee sold in the garden for export enterprises is up to 40,000VND/kg, much higher than when sold to traders for consumption in the domestic market. If it is favorable, we plan to export several hundred tons to Japan," Mr. Tung said./.
