Many important contents were introduced to more than 200 European businesses by online form at a seminar on commodity origin rules in the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) held on August 26th, in Ho Chi Minh city.

Speaking at the event, Director of the Ho Chi Minh city Customs Department Dinh Ngoc Thang said that EVFTA officially came into effect from August 1, 2020, after the two sides strived to negotiate for nearly 10 years.
However, due to effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the global economy sees sharp decline; the EU and Vietnam were part of this trend. Despite this unfavorable situation, leaders of both sides shared a common view that EVFTA is important boost to their economies.
According to the Ho Chi Minh city Customs Department, the organ is continuing to implement many projects to facilitate trade, towards electronic transaction, digital customs and smart customs in order to shorten customs clearance time for businesses.
Hailing the support of Customs authorities, especially in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, Mr. Nguyen Hai Minh, EuroCham Vice President, said that the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Customs coordinated with EuroCham to organize many training courses and dialogues for the European business community in Vietnam to realize administrative procedure reform.
Training programs will take place on August 28 and September 4, 2020, with two topics: the first topic focusing on introducing contents related to electronic C/O and the second one about Hamonized System (HS Codes)./.
