Seventeen trains of Vietnam’s first metro line (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien Metro Line 1) have completed registration, said Phan Cong Bang, Head of the Ho Chi Minh City Management Authority for Urban Railways (MAUR).

Accordingly, all 17 trains of Metro Line 1 have been granted a Certificate of quality, technical safety and environmental protection of railway vehicles. At the same time, by November 22, all 17 trains have been affixed inspection stamps.
According to MAUR, all trains of the first metro line currently meet all quality standards and are ready for commercial operation.
Metro Line 1 project has completed 100% of the construction volume and is expected to be put into official commercial operation on December 22.
The HCMC People’s Committee has officially approved the fare structure for Metro Line 1. Ticket prices for cash payments range from 7,000 VND to 20,000 VND, while non-cash payments are slightly discounted, ranging from 6,000 VND to 19,000 VND.
For unlimited rides, day passes are priced at 40,000 VND, while 3-day passes cost 90,000 VND. Monthly passes are available for 300,000 VND for general passengers and 150,000 VND for students.
To encourage public use, Ho Chi Minh City will offer free rides during the first month of operations, allocating a budget of 15.7 billion VND for this initiative. Additionally, the city will provide 17.3 billion VND in subsidies for 17 bus routes connecting to Metro Line 1.
Long-term plans include an annual budget of 32.6 billion VND to subsidize fares for specific groups, including those eligible for social policy benefits.
