Attracting investment in digital technology
According to the Hanoi Center for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion, in recent times, despite many difficulties, production, business and socio-economic development of Hanoi have still achieved many encouraging results.
In the first ten months of 2024, Hanoi attracted 1.6 billion USD of FDI capital. Of which, 233 projects were newly registered, with total capital of more than 1.1 billion USD. Total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue reached 699.2 trillion VND, a year-on-year rise of 10.7%. Tourist arrivals to Hanoi are estimated at 5.11 million, a year-on-year increase of 28.5%.
Deputy Director of the Hanoi Center for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Le Tu Luc said that the above positive results show that Hanoi continues to be an attractive destination for domestic and foreign investors. Moreover, with its strategic location as the capital of the country, along with many unique advantages, Hanoi has significant potential and opportunities to develop and attract investment in the digital and high-tech industries.
The northern hub has been implementing many key solutions for economic development with the focus on promoting the digital economy, green economy for sustainable development, and mechanisms and policies to motivate the development of high-quality human resources.
According to Mr. Le Tu Luc, Hanoi is making efforts to improve the investment environment, enhance competitiveness, and focus on removing difficulties and obstacles for businesses through policies on credit, tax and land, as well as investment promotion programs, trade and trade connection.
Focusing on training and developing human resources
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Hoai Son, Head of the Department of Science, Technology and Development Cooperation (University of Technology - Vietnam National University), digital transformation is the process of using digital technology to change the operation of the organization, improve efficiency and optimize work processes.
Digital transformation in training contributes to improving the quality of teaching by increasing interaction, supporting learning anytime, anywhere and combining online and direct training while helping optimize management processes, improve teaching and learning quality, and enhance the competitiveness of universities in the digital age.
“The main elements of digital transformation are information technology including network infrastructure, management software, security systems; training and developing digital skills for lecturers and students; optimizing administrative and management processes by using technology,” Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Hoai Son informed.
Evaluating solutions to promote digital transformation and develop digital enterprises, Viettel Logistics Strategy Director Cao Cam Linh commented that the barriers for enterprises in the current digital transformation process are concerns about data leakage, and lack of commitment and understanding of employees and enterprises. In addition, there are difficulties in integrating digital technology solutions, lack of information and digital technology infrastructure and barriers in investment costs and technology application.
For state agencies, Ms. Cao Cam Linh recommended that the Government, ministries, branches and localities should develop policies to support businesses such as tax incentives and financial policies and simplify the approval process of technology projects.
Along with that, developing national technology infrastructure and cybersecurity such as investing in digital infrastructure, improving broadband internet networks, 5G and national databases; strengthening network security; supporting training and developing technology human resources; raising awareness and supporting communication and popularization widely among people and businesses./.
