Investing in two railway lines connecting Long Thanh international airport

Deputy Prime Minister (PM) Le Van Thanh has asked the Ministry of Transport to agree with relevant ministries and localities on the investment plan for the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau railway project and the Thu Thiem light rail project - Long Thanh international airport.

Specifically, the Deputy PM requested the Ministry of Transport to agree with the People’s Committees of Dong Nai and Ba Ria - Vung Tau provinces, the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and other relevant ministries on the investment plan for the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau railway project and the Thu Thiem light rail project - Long Thanh international airport, ensuring compliance with the planning and competence in accordance with the law.

The Thu Thiem light rail route - Long Thanh international airport has been included in the detailed railway planning in Ho Chi Minh City. The length of the whole route is about 38km. The project is expected to be invested with 40.5 trillion VND.

Meanwhile, the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau railway line has a length of about 84km, with the starting point at Trang Bom Station and the ending point at Cai Mep - Thi Vai international port. It is expected to be invested with more than 50 trillion VND.

The two railway lines are expected to help synchronize the transport infrastructure system connecting Long Thanh Airport, thereby creating conditions to maximize the advantages of the project./.
