Kon Tum strives to make tourism a key economic sector by 2030

A conference to promote Kon Tum tourism in 2024 was co-hosted by the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism on December 11.

In recent years, the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum has attracted an increasing number of visitors. In 2023, it welcomed more than 1.3 million visitors, including 5,000 international visitors. In 2024, the total number of visitors is estimated to reach 2.3 million, in which 8,500 are international visitors.
So far, Kon Tum has recognized 13 tourist destinations and one provincial-level tourist area. The province is actively surveying and evaluating to recognize new tourist destinations, increasing its attractiveness to domestic and foreign tourists.
The province has outstanding tourist highlights such as: revolutionary cultural-historical tourism; community tourism; eco-tourism and resort tourism; spiritual tourism, along with unique experiences such as forest tourism associated with Ngoc Linh ginseng products.
The general scheme of Mang Den National Eco-tourism Area has been approved by the Prime Minister with unique natural and cultural landscapes. According to statistics, Kon Tum currently ranks second after Lam Dong in terms of tourist arrivals in the Central Highlands region.
Vice Chairwoman of the Kon Tum provincial People’s Committee Y Ngoc hopes that the conference contributes to introducing the unique features of local culture and tourism to domestic and international friends; creating conditions for cooperation to promote tourism development and strengthening tour and route connections.
Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Bach Thi Man said that in order to achieve the goal of making tourism a key economic sector by 2030, Kon Tum has set specific development orientations under the provincial Planning for 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, with specific main tasks such as: developing unique tourism products; increasing investment and improving infrastructure; improving the quality of tourism human resources; enhancing tourism promotion and developing sustainable tourism and environmental protection./.
