Newly established enterprises in Hanoi rise sharply in July

Hanoi granted certificates to 3,007 newly-established enterprises in July 2024, an increase of 20% over the same period last year; with a registered capital of 24.1 trillion VND, according to the City People’s Committee.

This month, the capital saw 997 enterprises resuming operation, a year-on-year rise of 56%.

In the first seven months of 2024, the city granted certificates to nearly 18,000 newly established enterprises with a registered capital of 162.1 trillion VND, a decrease of 2% in the number of enterprises and a decrease of 9% in registered capital compared to the same period last year.

In the period, 2,500 enterprises were dissolved, a year-on-year increase of 18%, and 18,200 registered to suspend operations, up 23%. Besides, 6,600 companies restored operations, a 14% rise compared to the same period last year.

In the first months of 2024, industrial production in the city continued to recover. Index of industrial production (IIP) in July was estimated to increase by 2.3% from the previous month and by 6.2% compared to the same period in 2023.

In the seven months, IIP increased by 5.2% compared to the same period last year, of which the processing and manufacturing industry increased by 4.4%; electricity production and distribution rose by 12.8%; water supply and waste and wastewater treatment soared by 8.8%; and mining industry decreased by 3.3%.

During the period, most of the processing and manufacturing industries achieved good increase compared to the same period last year, such as machinery and equipment production 14.9%; paper and paper products production 13.8%; bed, wardrobe, table and chair production 11%; other processing and manufacturing industries 9.1%; electrical equipment production 8.7% chemical production 7.8%.

In addition, three manufacturing industries had IIP decrease compared to the same period last year such as wood processing and production down by 5.1%; motor vehicle production 2.8% and leather and related products 1.2%./.
