In order to further promote the value of the mango industry, the  Cao Lanh City People’s Committee has coordinated with the Dong Thap Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to launch the Vietnam Mango Association.

The Vietnam Mango Association was established by the Chairman of the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association, and is directly under the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association. The association is an organization without an account and without a seal, with offices in Ho Chi Minh City and localities with mango material areas.

The Executive Committee of the Union has 11 members, including one Union branch president, four vice-chairmen and six members.

Mango accounts for 33.7% of the total fruit tree area of Dong Thap (more than 14,000ha) and ranks second in the Mekong Delta in terms of output. Main mango varieties include: Cat Chu, Cat Hoa Loc, and Green skin statue. Mangoes are now being exported to markets such as the Republic of Korea, Japan, USA and Australia.

In 2013, mango products were granted the trademark “Cat Chu Cao Lanh and Cao Lanh”  by the National Office of Intellectual Property.

In 2019, the National Office issued a certificate of geographical indication registration “Cao Lanh” for mango products. This year, for the first time, Dong Thap mango was exported to the US market after more than 10 years of technical exchange to agree on phytosanitary treatment measures. In early 2022, the first batch of Cat Chu mangoes of Dong Thap was exported to the European market./.
