Under the planning, the country will build the forestry sector into an economic and technical sector based on the establishment, management, protection, development and sustainable use of forest resources and forestry land; ensuring broad and equal participation of organizations and individuals in forestry activities, mobilizing social resources; maximizing the potential, role and value of forests for sustainable development.

Specifically, it aims to maintain a stable national forest coverage rate of 42-43%, focusing on improving forest quality, especially existing natural forests.

The average growth rate of forestry production value will reach 5-5.5% a year. The export value of wood and forest products will reach 20 billion USD in 2025 and 25 billion USD in 2030; the value of domestic consumption of wood and forest products will reach 5 billion USD (converted) by 2025 and 6 billion USD (converted) by 2030.

By 2025, the income value from production forests per unit area will increase 1.5 times and by 2030, it will increase 2 times compared to 2020.

By 2030, 100% of forest areas of forest owners are organizations that are sustainably managed to improve the efficiency of conserving natural resources and biodiversity and ensure the protective function of forests, minimizing violations of forestry laws.

By 2050, the forestry industry will be built into an economic and technical sector, promoting the potential and advantages of tropical forest resources.

Also according to Decision 895, the forest area certified for sustainable forest management will reach about 500,000 hectares by 2025 and will reach about 1 million hectares by 2030.

Priority will be given to developing wood trading centers in hi-tech forestry zones; building an international wood products trading center and building programs and plans for trade promotion and market development./.
