The event aims to introduce culture, tourism and specialties from the Mekong Delta region and Ho Chi Minh City as well as OCOP products from other provinces. It also opens opportunities for Vietnamese businesses to connect with retail distribution systems in Thailand.

The Vietnamese Week in Thailand 2023 attracts the participation of 100 Vietnamese enterprises. They display their products on a total area of nearly 1,000m2.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce of Thailand Jurin Laksanawisit said that Thailand is currently Vietnam’s largest trading partner in ASEAN, while Vietnam is Thailand’s fifth most important trading partner and second largest in ASEAN.

The bilateral trade turnover between the two countries reached US$21 billion, and the two sides aim to raise the figure to at least US$25 billion by 2025.

He emphasized that the organisation of the Vietnamese Week in Thailand 2023 is a good opportunity to strengthen trade, investment and tourism cooperation between the two countries.

Meanwhile, Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai shared that in recent years, the Vietnamese Government has created favourable conditions for businesses to promote exports to distribution systems in countries including Thailand.

First held in 2016, the Vietnamese Week in Thailand has helped hundreds of Vietnamese small and medium enterprises to popularize local products in the Thai market, said he.

The event will run until August 20, 2023./.
