Cambodian media highly appreciates Vietnamese Party official’s visit

In the past few days, Cambodian media agencies have reported quite a lot of news, articles and photos about the visit to Cambodia on October 17-19 by the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation led by Politburo member and permanent member of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee Secretariat Vo Van Thuong.

On October 17, the Khmer version of the website Freshnews broadcast a news bulletin with many pictures of the meeting between Mr. Vo Van Thuong and Mr. Samdech Say Chhum, Vice Chairman of the Cambodian People's Party Cambodia and President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia, which took place in Phnom Penh. Freshnews described the talks as "in a warm, friendly atmosphere, with mutual understanding and trust, in order to continue cultivating the traditional friendship, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties."

According to Freshnews, Cambodia's leading online newspaper, at the above meeting, the two sides exchanged information on the situation of each Party and each country, as well as the international and regional situation; and highly appreciated and welcomed the continuous development of the relationship between the two Parties and countries under the motto "good neighbourliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, long-term stability".

Regarding the direction of cooperation in the coming time, the two sides agreed to continue to maintain and strengthen the mechanism of connection at all levels between the two Parties and the two countries, strengthen cooperation and mutual support at international organizations and multilateral forums, and participate in solving regional and world problems, contributing to ensuring peace, security, stability and development.

The National News Agency of Cambodia (AKP) on October 18 published an article with many photos about the meeting that took place in the afternoon of the same day between Mr. Thuong, the high-level delegation from the CPV, and Honorary Chairman of the Cambodian People's Party, Chairman of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia Samdech Heng Samrin at the National Assembly headquarters of this country.

According to AKP, at the meeting, President of the Cambodian National Assembly said that the presence of the delegation during this visit to Cambodia will continue to contribute to cultivating, promoting and further enhancing the traditional friendship, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the Party, State and people of Cambodia and Vietnam. The news agency also said that on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Vietnam, in 2022, the two countries have organized many activities such as exchange of delegations with visits of senior leaders, to celebrate the Year of Friendship between the two countries.

Besides, many other Cambodian media agencies also reported articles and photos about the meeting on the morning of September 18 between Mr. Vo Van Thuong and Chairman of the Cambodian People's Party, and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia Samdech Techo Hun Sen.

At the meetings, Mr. Thuong stated that his visit aimed to further promote the relationship between the two Parties and the two countries, focusing on deepening substantive relations between the two Parties; promoting the exchange of leadership delegations between the two Parties; promoting relations between the provinces and cities of the two countries; and promoting cooperation in the fields of defense and security, investment and trade, as well as cooperation within the framework of regional and international mechanisms.

For his part, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen expressed his agreement and affirmed that the top priority is to promote good cooperation between bordering provinces, especially in security matters; remove and facilitate the circulation of goods, facilitate trade exchange, and prevent illegal activities such as drug trafficking and human trafficking./.
