So said Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Xiong Bo when talking to the press about the Dien Bien Phu victory. According to the Ambassador, the Dien Bien Phu victory was achieved first of all thanks to the strong and skillful leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam led by President Ho Chi Minh, the heroic fighting of the entire Vietnamese army and people, in addition to strong support from socialist countries, including China.
According to Ambassador Xiong Bo, the Vietnamese army and the previous Chinese army opposed imperialism and colonialism, fighting for independence and national liberation. Today, they build and protect the Fatherland, maintain political security, pursue happiness for the people and serve the interests of humanity.
The Ambassador proposed that in the new situation, the armies of the two countries should take the lead in implementing the strategic consensus that the top leaders of the two sides have reached, focusing on strengthening communication and strategic cooperation, promoting information exchange, exercises, joint training, and extensive cooperation in political education and cadre training. The 8th Vietnam-China border defense friendship exchange will take place in April. This exchange and cooperation mechanism over the past 10 years has contributed to building the most peaceful, stable, economically developed and busiest border in the world.
"We hope the two sides continue to contribute to deepening and enhancing the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership," Ambassador Xiong Bo said.
Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Khamphao Ernthavanh assessed the Dien Bien Phu victory as a political-military victory under the correct and wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, headed by the great President Ho Chi Minh. She added that the victory demonstrated the spirit of bravery and heroic sacrifice for the independence and freedom of the Vietnamese people, which was admired and praised by peace-loving people around the world.
According to the Ambassador, the Dien Bien Phu victory, the great victory of the Vietnamese army and people, had an important contribution from the strength of solidarity and the special combat alliance between Vietnam and Laos. During the resistance war against the French, the Lao army and people stood side by side with the brotherly Vietnamese army and people.
"The Dien Bien Phu victory is also the victory of solidarity and the special fighting alliance between Vietnam and Laos," Ambassador Khamphao Ernthavanh said.
She went on to say that the Dien Bien Phu victory created the basis for signing the Geneva Agreement on ending the war, restoring peace in Indochina, and breaking the yoke of French colonial domination. At the same time, this was also a great source of support and encouragement for the armies and people of Vietnam and Laos to continue the resistance war, bringing the two countries' revolutions to complete victory in 1975, creating a miracle victory over colonialists and imperialist invaders. Entering a new era of building and defending the Fatherland, the two Parties, two States, armies and people of the two countries continue to work together to preserve and cultivate the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world./.
