Photo exhibition held in Laos to mark Dien Bien Phu Victory

A photo exhibition was opened by the Party, State and People's Army of Laos at the Lao Army Museum in the capital Vientiane on May 6 to mark the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory.

At the exhibition, 200 photos are displayed and those are divided into four sections, including one on the cooperation between the Lao military and people and their Vietnamese counterparts in the struggle against US imperialism and its henchmen from 1955 to 1975, and another on the bilateral cooperation in the two countries' national defense, construction and development after 1975.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Defense Minister of Laos, Senior Lieutenant General Vongkham Phommakone emphasized that the victory is one of the most glorious in the history of the Vietnamese people's struggle against foreign invaders.

He emphasized that the victory not only opened a new era in the national liberation movement of the Lao military and people but also played an important role in the Laos-Vietnam combat alliance and became a prominent symbol of the spirit of great friendship and special solidarity between Laos and Vietnam.

The exhibition will run until May 31./.
