Russian media: Vietnam's position heightened thanks to contributions to UN

According to the Russian Federation News Agency (Riafan), Vietnam's international role and position is increasing, as reflected in its responsible contributions as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.

In the article, Riafan especially emphasized the positive and effective activities of President Nguyen Xuan Phuc at the recent High-Level Week of the 76th session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly.

Accordingly, one of the issues of concern to the whole world was raised in the speech of the President of Vietnam to the UN - the fight against the COVID-19  pandemic. The COVID-19 pandemic is an urgent warning about the devastating consequences of unusual security issues such as epidemics and climate change.

The President of Vietnam affirmed that the world cannot be safe when there are still any people or countries that are not safe from the pandemic, and made constructive suggestions on defeating the pandemic as soon as possible by removing barriers to the vaccine distribution process, with priority given to countries with low vaccination rates; promoting economic - trade cooperation to restore the world economy; accelerating digital transformation and use of “green” technology; and improving labor productivity, competitiveness and sustainability of the economy.

The article affirmed that all the statements of State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc at the UN General Assembly clearly show Vietnam's foreign policy, which is respect for international law. Any political "knot", even the most complicated, can be resolved by peaceful diplomatic means, on the basis of strict adherence to international law.

According to this news agency, Vietnam is also one of the most dynamic developing economies in the Asia-Pacific, which is focused on by the world's leading powers. Vietnam's economy is developing even amid the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, so surely after the pandemic, the economy will be like a spring that bounces to a new height.

During the session of the UN General Assembly, Vietnamese President Nguyen Xuan Phuc also delivered two more important speeches, at the climate security discussion and the food systems conference.

Vietnam is one of the ten countries most affected by climate change and sea level rise. State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc's speech clearly showed the country’s determination to minimize the impacts of climate change. This is also a goal that Vietnam has long implemented such as reducing the use of fossil energy, increasing the proportion of renewable energy to 25% of total supply by 2030; and implementing a program to plant 1 billion trees by 2025.

Regarding food, the article affirmed that as Vietnam is a country with a favorable climate and fertile soil, along with thousands of years of experience in the agricultural field, it is completely worthy of playing an important role in future world food security.

Addressing the conference, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc affirmed that coordination among countries, partners and actors in the food and food system must be for the benefit of the people. In order to develop the food system sustainably, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc proposed to expand international cooperation in research, forecasting, and building an information system to warn of risks about natural disasters and epidemics; sustainable management of national resources, biodiversity and forests; and Management of transboundary water resources and marine resources.

At the end of the article, the author affirmed that all of the above factors have proved a responsible Vietnam for the sustainable development of the world, based on three main pillars: economy - society - environment.

The initiatives raised by President Nguyen Xuan Phuc at this UN General Assembly may become research topics for Russian experts, thereby contributing to promoting bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the new era./.
