The official visit of Vietnamese State President Vo Van Thuong to Laos has been a great success and the results achieved during the visit will contribute to promoting the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
Evaluating the special things that can be considered as the mark of President Vo Van Thuong's visit to Laos, Lao Minister of Technology and Communications and Chairman of the Laos-Vietnam Friendship Association Boviengkham Vongdara emphasized that this was a visit of very special meaning because it took place just over a month after Mr. Vo Van Thuong was elected President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
More specifically, this was the first foreign trip of President Vo Van Thuong, not only showing that the Party and State of Vietnam attach great importance to the Laos-Vietnam great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation, but also showing Comrade Vo Van Thuong's affection for Laos.
Academician, Prof. Dr. Boviengkham Vongdara said that at the meeting between Party General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith and President of Vietnam Vo Van Thuong, the two sides had a frank exchange of measures to cultivate Laos-Vietnam and Vietnam-Laos relations, such as upgrading the economic cooperation relationship, training human resources, adjusting a number of inappropriate mechanisms to improve the efficiency of cooperation between the two sides.
Lao Minister of Technology and Communications Boviengkham Vodara highly appreciated this visit of President Vo Van Thuong; emphasizing that the visit was very successful; affirming that the results of this visit will contribute to promoting the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
Deputy Foreign Minister of Laos Thongphan Savanphet said that the first impression was the fact that Vo Van Thuong chose Laos as the first country to visit after being elected by the National Assembly as State President, showing his respect and special priority for the friendly relations between Laos and Vietnam. The second impression was that the visit took place in the context that the Lao people are preparing to welcome the traditional Tet of the nation, which is a very meaningful and auspicious time for the Lao people.
The next mark was that during this visit, the two sides reviewed and evaluated the results of cooperation between the two countries over the past time and agreed to continue to deepen the great friendship and special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam in an increasingly effective and substantive direction.
Leaders of the two countries also assessed and summarized cooperation in different fields, agreed to continue to strengthen cooperation and implement agreements to promote the traditional cooperation relationship between the two countries, bringing practical benefits to the people of the two countries.
