(CPV) - Due to the brazen actions of China in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf, the Vietnamese community around the world continues to hold peaceful rallies and marches in protest. These targeted gestures express solidarity and patriotism for the homeland’s sea and islands.

The Overseas Vietnamese Association in the city of Leipzig, Sachsen state has launched an appeal to support the Vietnam Coast Guards performing their duties in the East Sea.

Despite living far from the homeland, overseas Vietnamese have always been ready to take targeted action for the fatherland when its sovereignty and territorial integrity are in danger.

Immediately following China’s illegal deployment of the Haiyang Shiyou-981 drilling rig with a large fleet of armed vessels, military ships and aircraft to Vietnam’s waters in early May, overseas Vietnamese in Leipzig in particular, and throughout Germany in general, have been indignant and have firmly condemned these actions.

Responding to the appeal by the Overseas Vietnamese Association in Leipzig City and in order to encourage Vietnam’s law enforcement forces to be more steadfast in their protection of the country, the Vietnamese people in the city and its adjacent areas have provided funding for the coast guards.

Since the consciousness of the fatherland is sacred and the national sovereignty inviolable, the members of the Executive Committee of the Overseas Vietnam Association in Leipzig has mobilized Vietnamese people in Dong Xuan Center, Dong Xuan Market and Ben Thanh Market in support of the homeland’s sea and islands.

The program has collected close to EUR7,000.

On May 31st, the association will continue to call for contributions by the overseas Vietnamese and donors in Leipzig and its adjacent areas. The collection will be transferred to the Vietnam Coast Guards as soon as possible./.
