The Vietnamese community
in Hiroshima, Japan on July 13 marched peacefully to protest against China’s illegal placement of Haiyang Shiyou-981 in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf.

The march started from Peace park and passed over the main roads of the city.

Vietnamese people and international friends from Japan, the Philippines, Thailand joining the march raised the national flags of Vietnam, photos of Uncle Ho and General Vo Nguyen Giap and chanted slogans of asking China to withdraw its drilling rig out of Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone.

The protesters also required China to respect Vietnam’s sovereignty and international laws, condemned perverse acts of Chinese ships, which intentionally rammed against Vietnamese public-service and civil ships, causing damage to many boats and injuring many people on board.

The overseas Vietnamese participating in the march also called on international friends, including Japanese people, to support Vietnam in its struggle for justice.

The march attracted great attention of local people, international friends and the press, such as NHK television, Mainnichi and Nikkei newspapers.

Marchers raised funds supporting the owner of a fishing boat in Da Nang city, which was attacked and sunk by Chinese vessels on May 26./.
