Da Nang city gives assistance to disadvantaged fishermen

The Da Nang city Fisheries Society has recently given presents to disadvantaged fishermen who have consistently gone fishing despite their difficulties.

Accordingly, the society has awarded 60 presents worth VND10 million each. Apart from the cash, it has also provided 1,000 national flags and over 2,000 mobile cards to the fishermen, raising the total value of the gifts to over VND700 million.
Tran Van Linh, President of the city Fisheries Society, said that in 2014, labourers at sea had to face a lot of difficulties. Although there have not been many storms landing in central provinces, instability at sea has created a negative impact on fishermen’s production activities, according to Mr. Linh.
In 2014, the city fisheries society had received assistance of over VND6.5 billion in support for fishermen, including over VND5.2 billion in cash and various other items such as national flags, maritime devices, food and medicine.
The assistance has helped to encourage fishermen to go fishing, contributing to protecting the nation’s sea and island sovereignty.
In the near future, the society will promote the combination between fishermen’s production activities and science and technology to boost fishermen’s productivity./.
