Accordingly, the central budget will ensure 85% of the total investment while the rest will come from the Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN).
The Deputy Prime Minister has asked the Ministry of Industry and Trade to guide the EVN in completing the project procedures, making an estimate for the island’s power demand and choosing the most suitable mode of construction, to ensure financial and technical feasability.
The project will consist of over 17 kilometres of the 22kV overhead cables and over 15 kilometres of trans-ocean underground cable.
During the meeting between the Quang Nam provincial People’s Committee with the Central Power Corporation (CPC), the provincial People’s Committee agreed to establish a steering committee to carry out the project. It also asked the CPC to complete the project by September, 2015.
When completed, the project will satisfy the increasingly high demand for power on the island, providing a stable source of power from the national grid for people’s daily lives and economic development.
It is expected to make contributions to boost cultural and social development, increase people’s education, accelerate poverty reduction and develop tourism.
The building of the project is considered to play an important political task in contributing to maintain national security and defence as well as protect the nation’s sea and island sovereignty./.
