Da Nang city brings diverse support programs for fishermen

Da Nang city has issued a decision giving support for shipbuilding for fishing, fishing service organizations and individuals from the city budget or other legal sources, the city People’s Committee reported.

The decision aims to realise Decree 67 promulgated by the Government on some policies promoting fisheries development.
Accordingly, organizations and individuals will receive assistance of VND500 million for each 400-600 CV ship, VND600 million for each 600-800 CV ship and VND800 million for each ship having a capacity of 800 CV or more.
In addition, the city will provide all registration fees for the ships.
Together with the support decision, the city has announced 4 foundations that are capable of building, upgrading and adjusting fishing ships.
Under the decision, the ships receiving the support have to be built by the named foundations while their owners have to commit to put the ships into operation within 7 years after receiving the first phase of assistance.
Since Decree 67 went into effect on August 15th, 157 fishing organizations and individuals have registered to build 182 new ships, including 157 fishing ships and 25 service ships. The registered ships also consist of 93 wooden, 80 steel and 9 others.
In 2014, the city organised diverse programs on supporting fishermen, including promoting tuna fishing, building the fund for fishermen, organising training courses on a reduction of being arrested by foreign ships and receiving training on legal matters at sea./.
