Mr. Nguyen Van Cuong and his wife Nguyen Bich Thuy, expatriates in Germany handed over free housing for the children of officials and soldiers on duty on the Vietnamese islands on December 24th.
Mr. Cuong said that the idea of housing support for children of officials and soldiers appeared after China illegally placed the Haiyang Shiyou-981 drilling rig in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone. With the patriotism and desire of spiritual support for officials and soldiers, he decided to conduct the housing support program.
His family provided five self-contained flats free of charge for students whose parent are protecting the islands, for 5 years. The flats are in Hoang Liet ward, Hoang Mai district, Hanoi. On this occasion, 15 students came to receive the keys of the flats.
“To be Vietnamese people, anyone also loves their country. Each represents their love in a different way. We see that we have conditions to help children of officials and soldiers on duty on islands five flats free of charge for 20 children in five years. I think this will multiply humanity of overseas Vietnamese for their homeland. I am very happy to implement this project,” shared Ms. Nguyen Bich Thuy.
Representative for students supported with free housing, Le Duc Thang, who is a student from Hanoi University of Science and Technology and the son of Lieutenant Colonel Le Duc Giap, army medical personnel of Vietnam coast guard ship 8001, said that he was very proud of his father and many officers and soldiers on duty protecting the country. He also thanked Mr. Cuong’s family for helping him and other students to have better conditions to study in Hanoi.
Vu Thi Minh Hai, a first-year student of the National Economics University, a daughter of Mr. Vu Quoc Thang, who usually takes trips to the islands, expressed her luckiness when being able to support free housing within five years.
On this occasion, Binh An Import Export Trading Service Co., Ltd. also presented each student a multi rice cooker and will support VND20 million for children in January, 2015. Quang Trung printing house also presented students notebooks./.
