180 documents and maps on Hoang Sa and Truong Sa presented to border guard

The Ministry of Information and Communications on March 2nd presented a collection of 180 documents and maps as a proof confirming Vietnam’s sovereignty over Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos to the High Command of Border Guard.
Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Truong Minh Tuan said that the documents and maps presented are part of materials collected within the country and over the world, showcasing the country’s early claim of sovereignty over the archipelagos.
The present would contribute to the gratitude to fallen soldiers who defended the national sacred sovereignty over the archipelagos and to compatriots at home and abroad who have collected and kept valuable documents relating to the archipelagos.

The documents and maps are arranged in four groups, including documents issued by Vietnamese feudal dynasties from the 17th century to the beginning of the 20th century; 60 maps ascertaining Vietnam’s sovereignty over Truong Sa and Hoang Sa archipelagos published by Vietnam, Western countries and China from the 16th century up to now; 15 copies of documents by France and the Republic of Vietnam about sovereignty over Hoang Sa archipelago; and several photos about Truong Sa archipelago and current contributions of the information and communication sector and the the border guard in protecting the country’s sovereignty over seas and islands./.
