In mid-afternoon on June 21st, more than 500 Vietnamese in the city of Frankfurt in the Federal Republic of Germany marched before the Chinese Consulate General in the city to protest China’s illegal construction activity in the East Sea.
In red shirts with a gold star, the march unfurled banners to protest China’s unruly behavior in illegally constructing and upgrading islands and reefs into military outposts.
In front of the Chinese Consulate General in Frankfurt, more than 500 Overseas Vietnamese and many German and international peace loving friends sent a letter of protest to the Chinese Government to request that they desist from their illegal actions.
The letter of protest required Chinese government to immediately stop illegal construction and upgrading of islands and reefs in the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagoes; respect the sovereignty and jurisdiction of Vietnam; seriously comply with and enforce international law, especially the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea 1982 (UNCLOS 1982) and the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC).
Then the march moved into the central square before the city hall, shouting out slogans and finding the support of hundreds of foreign tourists along the way./.
