According to Colonel Ha Son Hai, General Director of the Song Thu Corporation, coast guard ship 9004 is the fourth in the series of rescue ship DT4612-3.500CV. “They are the most modern and biggest rescue ships built in Vietnam so far,” he said. “They help to increase the strength of equipment for the Vietnam Coast Guard to carry out search and rescue work, serving fishermen, and conducting patrol activities to protect the security and sovereignty of the sea and continental shelf”.

With a length of 46 metres and a width of 12 metres, coast guard vessel 9004 is designed to survive gusts of the 12th level with a range of 3,000 nautical miles.

Meanwhile, vessel 8002 covers a modern design which satisfies international standards. The vessel will be responsible for conducting patrols to protect the sea and island sovereignty, carrying out law enforcement at sea and the continental shelf, doing search and rescue work in the sea of Vietnam’s and international waters as requested, providing logistics for the army forces at sea.

The vessel, which can survive in the middle of gusts at the 12th level, can operate 40 successive days at sea in a range of 5,000 nautical miles.

According to Major General Nguyen Quang Dam, Commander of the Vietnam Coast Guard, as there have been complex developments at sea recently, the new modern vessels play a great significance in maintaining peace and stability at the East Sea as well as in protecting the nation’s sea and island sovereignty./.
