The Agriculture and Rural Development Bank of Vietnam (Agribank) recently made the first Automated Teller Machine (ATM) available on Ly Son island of Quang Ngai central province.
The ATM is set up at the centre of the island and will be operated 24/7 in order to serve the rising demand of locals and tourists.
Ly Son has a population of around 21,000 people. The majority of residents earn a living from fishing and farming garlic and spring onions.
Ly Son is striving to become a maritime economic centre by 2025 with a focus on tourism and aquaculture.
The island district hopes to welcome 40,300 visitors in 2015 and earn over VND41 billion (USD1.92 million). Tourism revenue in the locality is predicted to rise to nearly VND99 billion (USD4.65 million) in 2020 and VND178 billion (USD8.36 million) in 2025./.
