Government grants financial support to island districts and communes

The Prime Minister has signed a decision to supplement VND54.422 billion from the central budget in 2016 for five provinces to implement the subsidy policy for electricity price and ships transporting fresh water and supplies to island districts and communes, and supporting funding to maintain operation of water tanks and sea water filters.
A corner of Ly Son island (Photo: tintuclyson.com) The five provinces are Quang Tri (VND1.6 billion), Binh Thuan (VND4.71 billion), Quang Nam (VND3.312 billion), Binh Dinh (VND1.1 billion) and Kien Giang (43.7 billion). For Quang Ngai province alone, the Prime Minister requested to use of the remaining funding of 2015.
Mr Nguyen Xuan Phuc also asked the management and use of the funding economically, efficiently and in compliance with regulations. Ending 2016, the localities report the result of the implementation to the Ministry of Finance to supplement the funding and then report to the Prime Minister. The Ministry of Finance is responsible for the content and the data reported.
Besides, localities were asked to allocate local budgets to ensure 30% of funding for subsidy electricity price and ships transporting fresh water and supplies to island districts and communes, as well as support funding to maintain operation of the water tanks and sea water filters in 2015 and 2016./.
