- An education program on improving awareness of climate change and effectively using energy for primary students was launched by the Danish Embassy, Ministry of Industry and Trade, and Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment on November 8 in Hanoi.

Initially, the program will be implemented at 10 primary schools in Hanoi and if it is feasible, it will be applied across the country.

Puppetry is a main tool used to help children understand the content and significance of the program in order to educate them about climate change and promote them to do simple things they can to minimize bad impacts on the environment. So an interesting puppetry drama is composed for children to illustrate these points.

In addition, the program includes a photo contest so that children can show their ability taking photographs of environmental protection moments of themselves, families or their friends. These photos will be displayed at an exhibition in March, 2013 on the occasion of the Earth Hour.

“We believe that awareness of the environment and conservation education need to be taught early in life. With the support of the government of Vietnam, we are confident that the program will help teachers and students develop positive action plans against climate changes,” Mr. Martin Lidegaard, Danish Minister of Climate, Energy and Construction, said at the launching ceremony.

According to a report of the World Bank, Southeast Asian and Pacific nations will be most affected by climate changes. Therefore, the launching of the awareness improving education program is a necessary act and should be disseminated in the near future./.
