Quang Nam province: 1,582 youth union members admitted to Party Committees

The 10th session of the 17th executive committee of the Quang Nam provincial Youth Union was organized on January 4th to review the operation of the provincial youth union in 2015.

In 2015, under the theme “Proudly moving forward under the Party’s flag”, the provincial youth union organized various practical activities, attracting a large number of youth union members. Especially, activities of youth unions to welcome Party congresses at levels, such as collecting and mobilizing to build 35 compassion houses, worth VND1.6 billion; presenting 8,000 gifts to poor and policy beneficiary families, poor students and AO victims; building seven bridges; installing nearly 40km of electricity lines to light rural roads; examining and distributing medicines free of charge to nearly 3,000 people; mobilizing members to donate 6,500 units of blood; organizing 175 turns to transfer advanced science and technology; establishing 631 youth economic models; 21 farm economic models and 52 youth economic development collectives; and helping 100 young families escape poverty.
Besides, the province admitted 19,274 young people to youth unions; introducing 2,107 outstanding youth union members to the Party, with 1,582 of them admitted.
Speaking at the meeting, Standing Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Phan Viet Cuong praised the results of the provincial youth union in 2015. He asked youth unions in the province to focus on building action programs, grasping resolutions of Party congresses at all levels, as well as building models for young people suitable with the new situation.
He also presented a decision appointing Mr. Thai Binh, member of provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the provincial Youth Union, as Secretary of the provincial agencies bloc’s Party Committee for the 2015-2020 period, from January 5th, 2016. The meeting elected Mr. Dinh Nguyen Vu, Standing Deputy Secretary of the provincial Youth Union, as Secretary of the provincial Youth Union for the 2012-2017 period./.
