Nearly VND24 billion in support of navy forces’ children and poor fishermen

The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and Vu A Dinh scholarship fund on July 28th held a meeting to celebrate the 2nd year of the club “For beloved Paracel and Spratly archipelagos”.

Addressing the meeting, Truong My Hoa, former Vice State President, Vu A Dinh scholarship fund’s President and Head of the club, said that since the establishment of the club, 266 collectives and individuals have registered to donate money to the club with a capital of over VND16 billion.

In addition, the club, in collaboration with Vu A Dinh scholarship fund, has encouraged seven secondary and high schools in Ho Chi Minh city to admit 55 pupils who are children of navy cadres and soldiers, as well as poor fishermen in south-central and southwestern coastal regions, to schools in Ho Chi Minh city, with assistance worth over VND7.8 billion.

As planned, in the 2016-2017 school year, the club will continue to mobilise 1,300 scholarships for coastal pupils, build 2 charitable houses for beneficiary families, and care for Tet for soldiers who are safeguarding sea and island sovereignty, as well as fishermen’s families who meet difficulties due to natural disasters./.
