Accordingly, from now until 2020, the EVNSPC will invest over VND183 billion in power supply projects in five districts, in which nearly 410 kilometres of electricity line and 114 transformer stations will be built, delivering power supply to nearly 7,300 families.
In 2016 alone, the Hau Giang provincial Power Company will be allocated VND20 billion from the budget and reciprocal capital from the EVNSPC to construct over 85 kilometres of electricity line and 35 transformer stations in five districts, providing power for over 1,800 families in disadvantaged communes and those that have lower power access than the average rate of the province, as well as those that need power supply criteria to be recognised as new style rural areas.
According to Nguyen Viet Tho, Director of the Hau Giang provincial Power Company, over 98% of rural residents in the province have gained access to the nation grid; however, thousands of families have not.
“The province is striving to help a majority of rural families have power to use by 2020,” said Mr. Tho.
The project belongs to the Government’s program to bring power supply to rural, mountainous and island regions in the 2013-2020 period which aims to help the region escape poverty, and increase residents’ spiritual and material lives, especially in remote areas./.
