Expanding rubber area is considered a breakthrough in boosting economic development and poverty reduction among ethnic minority-inhabited regions in the northern mountainous province of Lai Chau.
Rubber trees are planted mainly in Sin Ho, Phong Tho, Nam Nhun and Than Uyen districts on a total area of nearly 13,000 hectares, with over 100 hectares having been planted for over 9 years and producing initial latex.
