Since 2010, the Bac Kan provincial Women’s Union has worked with relevant agencies to open vocational training courses for nearly 10,700 female labourers, and established three cooperatives and six teams of production after vocational training.
Accordingly, the women have been trained in cooking, producing vermicelli and artificial flowers, making brocade, planting mushrooms and safe vegetables, raising animals and poultry, and producing bio-fertilizer.
After the courses, 1,000 women have been provided with loans for production, while 70-80% of the female trainees can create jobs for themselves.
Vocational training for women, especially for those in remote and extremely disadvantaged areas, creates opportunities for the women gain access to science and technology, practice better ways of production, contributing to realizing local socio-economic development targets.
