Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) on December 20th inaugurated the Lai Chau hydro-electric plant project, one year ahead of the schedule set by the National Assembly resolution.

The project, having been carried out with an investment of VND35.7 trillion, is the third largest hydro-electric plant on the Da river. With three groups of turbines of 1,200 MW in productivity, the plant produces 4.67 billion kWh per year, helps prevent floods in rainy season and provide water in dry season in the northern region, and contributes to boosting socio-economic development in the northwestern region.

Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung and delegates cut a ribbon to inaugurate the plant.
