Raising prawns in mountainous areas

Nearly 50 families in Tra Co commune in the mountainous district of Tan Phu in the southern province of Dong Nai are gaining high economic value by raising prawns on an area of 45 hectares of water.
Prawns raised in mountainous areas and fed with maize mixed with small fish are of high quality, and are a famous specialty for large restaurants in Dong Nai province and Ho Chi Minh city. At present, the prawns are sold at some VND180,000 per kilogram, bringing the profit of VND300 million per hectare per year for breeders.
