The Da Nang city Emergency Centre on October 25th held an exercise on dealing with health emergencies to serve the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week which will be held from November 6th-11th.
The exercise aimed to practice possible cases during the APEC Week. Four hospitals in Da Nang city have been chosen to serve.
The first putative case is that a delegate is delivering a speech at APEC meeting when he suddenly suffers from a heart attack. On-duty doctors immediately practice first-aid on site, using modern medical equipment on hand.
The patient is then taken to hospital on an ambulance equipped with modern medical facilities serving emergency cases.
In another exercise, victims suffer smoke inhalation. Many escape, while some are trapped in a high building.
Doctors and health workers immediately reach the sites to help the victims escape from the danger zone, bringing medical equipment to care for the victims.
Seriously injured victims are taken from the scene on stretchers.
Those who suffer from smoke inhalation are given oxygen and taken to hospitals.
A field hospital is set up near the scene to deliver first aid to the victims.
Patients are taken to hospitals for treatment.
After the exercise, health experts say patients received appropriate and prompt treatment; however, plans should be made to prepare for any event in which a lot of people panic and trample upon each other to escape.
Earlier, the Da Nang city Emergency Centre participated in practice on rescuing hostages arrested and controlled in high buildings and tourism boats by terrorists.
