In its effort, Sawaco is striving to reduce water loss, currently at 25.5%, by 1-2% , by continuing to carry out water loss projects, and expand water supply networks.

Accordingly, water supply constructions will be developed to receive and consume new sources of water taken from the Thu Duc No.3 water plant and the Tan Hiep No.2 water plant, with a priority in expanding water supply networks in outlying communes.

Diverse forms of investment mobilization will also be conducted by Sawaco, including mobilization of preferential loans from domestic and international financial organizations, increase of social involvement in water supply constructions, establishment of joint ventures and joint stock companies. Meanwhile, the corporation will also accelerate the project on installing water pipes in carrying out loan contracts with the Ho Chi Minh city Finance and Investment State-owned Company.

To support water supply expansion, Sawaco suggests the city encourage residents to participate in investment in water pipe systems, and to install water meters.

Departments’ and authorities’ leaders are urged to make plans in accordance with water supply planning which was adopted by the Prime Minister.

The city will issue measures to restrict and forbid exploitation of underground water in areas that have water supply pipe networks./.
