Many Vietnamese in the US travelled to pagodas over the first few days of the Lunar New Year to offer their prayers for a felicitous year in 2018.

Vietnamese arrived at the pagodas soon after New year’s Eve had passed.

Pagodas around Washington DC are still crowded despite the bitterly cold weather.

The altars in the pagodas are carefully and ornately decorated with fruit plates and bright flowers.

On the west coast of the US, people’s Tet celebrations can often be held outdoors due to the year round warm weather.

The gardens and scenery surrounding the pagodas are colourfully decorated with many lanterns all around.

The pagodas draw quite a crowd on the first day of Tet.

Brushwork calligraphy of kind and hopeful greetings for the New Year are offered to people on Tet.
