Over 50,000 people join in protecting child rights

After 10 years of development, the Vietnam Association for Protection of Child’s Rights has established 18 units at the provincial level, 42 sub-associations and 6 centers, with over 50,000 members across 38 localities.

The figure was announced during a meeting held on November 13th to inform of the 3rd Congress of the association, which is expected to be organized on November 17th-18th.

Over the past years, the association has contributed high quality ideas and feedback to agencies drafting legal documents and policies relating to children. Meanwhile, it has carried out 256 campaigns of communications on the law on children, skills at working with children, and prevention of child abuse and violence, for over 41,000 adults and children.  

Since 2013, over VND327 billion has been mobilized to assist nearly 1.5 million disadvantaged children, with 85 bridges, 2 swimming pools, 57 wells, and 34 houses. Additionally, diverse programs have been organized to link people with disadvantaged children across the country.

Being a member of the Child Rights Coalition Asia (CRC Asia), the Vietnam Association for Protection of Child’s Rights has made contributions to regional programs and projects for children, promoting child participation in international activities by sending 57 delegations to foreign conferences, meetings and forums for bringing Vietnamese children’s voices to the world.

According to Do Duc Ngo, Vice President of the Vietnam Association for Protection of Child’s Rights, the 3rd Congress of the association aims to review the work over the past 5 years, and put forth orientations and mission for 2018-2023./.
