The project has also helped provide 30 hectares of land to expand Da Nang Airport and serve the city’s socio-economic development.

The information was announced during the visit to the project by a delegation of United States legislative assistants led by Terra Lynn Sabag, Deputy Chief of Staff for US Congressman Rick Larsen, on April 17th.

According to Major General Bui Anh Chung, Deputy Head Commander of the Air Defence-Air Force, the first activities of the project started in June 2011 and gained these results after two phases of implementation.

“These results were brought about by close cooperation between Vietnam and the US Governments, the direction of Vietnamese agencies and the coordination of the US International Development Agency,” Mr. Chung said.

He added that the completion of the project marked an important milestone in overcoming Vietnam’s post-war consequences as they proved their efficiency and significance in diverse areas, including environment, socio-economics, community health and external relations. Meanwhile, it also helped bring precious experience in managing, inspecting, operating and applying technologies in overcoming the consequences of toxic chemicals.

Showing her pleasure with the project results, Ms Terra Lynn Sabag expressed her hope that the visit of the US delegation will contribute to strengthening the good US-Vietnam relations and overcoming war consequences./.
